Service is a key aspect of every product. After loosing a Minion, I wanted to biy another, but they were/are sold out for weeks. Then I ordered a windy, with no other choice. After waiting weeks with no shipment, I contacted customer service and was told that the shipper wasn’t picking up packages, after the label was created. Finally got it, but instructions are difficult to understand and the wind option doesn’t work.
In July 2025 I purchased a caddy talk Windy specifically because of the triangulation feature as well as the M-slope and e-slope features. For several months it worked great. I live in Houston, Texas and the triangulation feature was especially important down here as we play a lot of cart path only golf, particularly in the spring. Unfortunately, by September of 2025, the unit stopped working. I was getting erroneous yardages back and slope features stopped working. I detailed this in an email to Caddy Talk and they were initially VERY cooperative. They warrantied the unit and sent a replacement quite promptly. Unfortunately, the replacement unit they sent was also defective. I am assuming they sent a refurbished unit as a replacement but it did not work for a single round. I received this unit in February which is one of the few cold months here in Houston and it took until April for me to get out on the course due to life/weather. When I initially charged the unit, I found it odd that the red charging led did not ever turn green as it did on the original unit to indicate a full charge. That said, it seemed to be working in the house, so the next day when I took the unit to the course, it did not work. If ANY of the slope features were on, the yardage would come back grossly inaccurate. Once I changed modes and turned off all of the slope features, i was able to get some correct yardages, but I knew at this point that the unit was not working so I packed it up and sent another email to the warranty thread to this regard. When Caddy Talk replied, initially they were concerned that there was a software issue and asked me to go through a reset procedure to see if this would fix the issue. I attempted this reset, but unfortunately by the time I tried the software reset, I could not even get the unit to power on. I sent a detailed video to Caddy Talk and they again asked me to go through another charging procedure and made some recommendations on how to possibly get the unit to respond. Once this also did not work, I sent pictures of me ensuring the unit was charged to their specifications and explained that the unit would still not power on despite seemingly holding a charge. In the last response to me, they have now told me that the unit they sent as a replacement is out of my one year warranty (it’s May and one year is up in July) and that they are no longer going to entertain my claim.
I’m sorry for the dissertation, but in my opinion this situation is quite simple. The initial unit they sent broke and they warrantied it as they should have. They unfortunately sent a broken unit to me as a replacement and now won’t stand by that replacement unit that has been dysfunctional since it came out of the box. I have jumped through every hoop they have asked me to and now, with two months left to spare on my original one year warranty, they are now falsely claiming that I am out of my one year warranty and are refusing to exchange this unit for one that works, which realistically would not hurt them financially at all. I on the other hand, spent $400 on a unit that has not worked for 7 of the 10 months I’ve had it and now may have to eat that completely.
Here is S. Florida there is a lot of cart path only day during the summer. I wanted this rangefinder for the triangulation feature which seems to work within a few yards so mission accomplished. The wind feature does not seem to work correctly. I have tried several time during rounds of golf and the sensor will not turn on. I tried maybe 20-30 times. Keep in mind I did not purchase the rangefinder for the wind feature because it only measures the wind in your immediate location so in my opinion it’s kind of a gimmick. I have contacted customer service 2 time so far with no response. I can not find a phone number to speak with anyone directly. One more thing, I paid for expedited shipping which did not happen but they did refund the extra shipping charges. They seem to be a good company just not very responsive. I will probably keep the range finder for those rainy days and the times in need the triangulation feature.
I am quite satisfied with the functions of the Windy. However, it was delivered without any removable magnets but instead with two plastic covers. I attempted to contact the customer service ([****]) but received no response. Disappointing.
This is a great tool! Lots of features…still trying to figure out the “Wind Feature”…but love the Caddy Feature!
Everything works good but it has terrible battery life. My Cube battery lasts for countless rounds but my Windy was dead on my third round. If I remember it is advertised as comparable in terms of battery life to the Cube.
I'll start with things I like:
I love the compact design, and the build quality is excellent. Materials and weight make the product feel premium.
Caddy mode. This feature has been extremely useful for cart path only days, or if I'm behind a hill I could run up to the top and measure from my ball to the flag.
USB C charging. Although it seems like many manufacturer's are including this, it is still nice to see.
Things I didn't like:
Slope adjustment seemed off. Even after calibrating there would be clearly downhill or uphill hole that read as flat, or even the opposite. I have had to rely on my playing partner's range finder to confirm my distances, and often times they have been 10-15 yards off.
Display faded. After about 15 months of use the display began fading. Even after resetting and fully charging the device, the display was still faded. Now, after about 18 months, the display is almost unreadable. I am just guessing where the crosshair is, and it is extremely difficult to make out the number.
After reaching out to support, I was told there is nothing they can do about the faded display as it is out of warranty. This is extremely disappointing, as I expected something that costs $300 to last more than 15 months. Given the faded display and lack of support from CaddyTalk, I am looking at other brands for my next rangefinder purchase.
So I have to say that the windy device when it reads the wind I don't believe gives an accurate change in distance unless the wind level is extremely high. The problem is I play in Houston Texas and we have gusts of wind and not constant wind and so it makes it difficult for the Windy to be as accurate because the wind changes. But the overall features of it are fantastic. And the caddy mode where you can triangulate is excellent. Overall, great product.
Triangulation works great. The reason I got this rangefinder.
I lost my first cube while I was golfing. I liked the first one so much after several months, I decided to purchase another one. The same thing happened this time as the last time. The day after I ordered the cube, the company put on a special that included a magnetic cover for free. That special isn't included because when I purchased it, that wasn't the deal.
Arrived soon after ordering. The hard outside case is nice but I like to keep my rangefinder in my pocket. It is so light and small it fits very easily in my pocket. So far no scratches (from tees and ball markers in there with it) but I watch out for that risk. Sometimes it's first yardage is beyond the pin or whatever I'm shooting at, but when I try again it quickly gives the yardage to the target. Buttons are put in the right spots. I've gotten in many rounds before recharging is needed.
Owned and used a cheap no-name rangefinder for two years and didn't know what I was missing. This thing picks up distances and flags immediately. I mapped out some landmarks on my course to check accuracy and it was either exact or a yard off (which could easily be user error). And, when I say this thing is small, I mean small. I needed the smallest package that could triangulate distances from the cart path for "path only" days. This thing delivers. The case is fantastic and I forget that it is on my belt. I do wish it had a lens cap for storage. I'll make one out of duct tape or something.
i love the way the range finder work and all the feature was great especially when it was cart path only. I think if there was a hard casing with a magnet for the windy i would have given it a 5 but the dang thing is too flimsy especially for something that goes inside of a golf bag.
I’ve been golfing for years, and this is by far the best rangefinder I’ve ever owned. The Minimi NR is compact enough to slip into my pocket but doesn’t compromise on accuracy; yardages are spot on every time. It locks onto the flag quickly, even with trees in the background, and the slope feature has been a game-changer for my club selection. The magnet is strong and incredibly convenient on the cart, and the battery easily lasts through multiple rounds.
Once I understood all the modes, it was easy. Now it’s part of every shot.
Crystal clear, even on cloudy days. Easy to spot the flag.
Of all the gadgets I’ve bought, this one actually pays off on the course. Lower scores, more confidence.
It’s nice confirmation that I’ve got the pin. Then it shows me the adjusted distance—love it.
My course has crazy elevation changes and Windy nails it. Add wind factor and I feel unstoppable.
Played 4 rounds and still going strong. Fast readings every time.
Friends are starting to ask why I’m suddenly hitting more greens. Windy is my quiet advantage.
Didn’t think I’d use it much, but knowing my exact carry yardages in wind is huge.
Didn’t think I’d like all the features, but it’s actually very simple once you use it a few times.
I'm playing faster because I don't stand there debating clubs. Windy tells me what I need and I trust it.
